    Somatic cell hybrids were from fusion of mouse with Chinese hamster cells. Hybrid DNA was digested with PstI, Southern blotted and probed for Gad-1 using feline p65-Gad-16 cDNA. The segregation of a 4.0kb mouse specific fragment for Gad-1 on Chromosome 2was analyzed. Because Chromosome 11 was not present in these somatic cell hybrids, rat-mouse hybrid RTM9 containing mouse Rb(11.13) and control RTM9Bu that lost this chromosome were analyzed and were negative for mouse Gad-1 sequences. these data ruled out Chromosome 11 as the site of Gad-1 or related sequences.
