  Mice from the N8, N9 and N10 generations of the incipient congenic B6.SPRET-+/rd were crossed to C57BL/6J-rd/rd. Of the 72 offspring analyzed, 45 were heterozygous for zr.408 carrying both the C57BL/6J and M. spretus alleles and had normal retinas; 27 were homozygous for the C57BL/6J zr.408 allele and had degenerative retinal disease. These data suggest the correspondence of zr.408 and the Pde6b^rd1 gene.
