  Genomic probes identifying RFLP genetic markers for Bf and C4 from the S region of the H-2 complex were used to anlayze H-2 congenic lines C3H-LG(H-2^dx haplotype f) and B10.TFR5(H-2^ap5 haplotype k). Southern blots of HindIII, KpnI and MspI digestes from these congenics indicate that C3H.LG is not the f haplotype and may be r or v at the Bf locus. At the C4 locus both congenics are consistent with the assigned haplotypes using BamHI, EcoRI and MspI digests. It was further noted that C3H.LG is not of the f haplotype at the C2 locus. The authors suggests that these haplotype variations may indicate recombination within the S region.
