• Experiment
  Using F1 skin graft complementation tests, BALB.B and A.BY were demonstrated to carry the H-3 allele of BALB/c and A/J, H-3^c. In competition assays it was shown that a new gene, H-44 or H-45, is shared by BALB.B, A.BY and B10, but differs in B10.LP-H-3^b. The allele present in B10.LP-H-3^b is shared with B10-pa-H-3^e indicating that this gene was co-transferred with H-3 in the development of both of these congenics.
