  A genomic clone that identifies the hemoglobin alpha pseudogene, alpha 4 (Hba-ps4) was mapped to the distal t complex. TaqI digests produced a t specific Hba-ps4 fragment of 5.2 kb in complete T haplotypes from 129 mice, whereas wild type fragments of 3.8 and 1.4 kb in C3H mice and 3.4 kb in BALB/cJ mice were observed. All partial proximal t-haplotypes t^h17, t^h18, t^Tu2 and t^Lub2) were associated with the wild type inbred fragments whereas the 5.2 kb Hba-ps4 specific fragment was associated with proximal t haplotype t^h2, t³, t^w18, t^AE5, t^h45, t^h49, t^h51, t^h53, t^h44 and T^Orl ) which are bounded proximally by Tcp-1. Further it was noted that a deletion in a segment of the t Chromosome in t⁶ including Hba-ps4 deriving the t^h20haplotype coincided with the appearance of the Itpr3^tf mutation in t^h20, demonstrating the two may be linked.
