  Somatic cell hybrids were from fusion of Chinese hamster line V79/380-6 with mouse cells that carry T(X;16)16H. The hybrid cells retained an intact Chromosome 16 and reciprocial 16^X(T(X;16)16h) and X¹⁶(T(X;16)16H) translocations. X¹⁶ contains 16B5 to distal 16, 16^X contains from the centromere of 16 to 16B5. The concordant segregation of 16^X with Igl-1 maps Igl-1 to proximal Chromosome 16.
