    The azh mutation orignated on a C57BL/6J and was maintained on a hybrid C57BL/6J x SWR/J background. The genetic background of the mice used by the authors was said to be 75% C57BL/6J and 25% SWR/J. azh/azh mice from the second to fourth backcross generation were used for linkage testing.Offspring types indicate alleles inherited from F1 parent.
