  Revised gene symbols: Cd8a and Cd8b (formerly Ly-2 and Ly-3 respectively).
• Experiment
  Chromosome walking was used to physically map Cd8a and Cd8b. They were shown to be approximately 36kb apart and arranged in head to tail fashion with Cd8b 5' to Cd8a. The genomic cosmid clone CosLy-3-17 containing Cd8b, was found to overlap with the Cd8acDNA clone (lambda)Ly2-B, which in turn overlapped with Cd8a cDNAs Ly2-D and Ly2-F.
