    EcoRI digested DNAs from mouse 3T3 cells, hamster 380-6 cells, 8 Chinese hamster x mouse somatic cell hybrids and 1 rat x mouse cell line, RTM 10 HAT carrying mouse Robertsonian Chromosome Rb(11.13), were analyzed. Col1a1 was present only in 3T3 controlsand in the rat x mouse hybrid; all Chinese hamster x mouse hybrids lacked mouse Chromosome 11. These data, suggesting assignment of Col1a1 to Chromosome 11, were confirmed by analyzing an additional Chinese hamster x mouse line, EBS5 which carries all mouse chromosomes except 11. EBS5 was negative for Col1a1 as predicted.
