  Seventeen Chinese hamster (CHO) x mouse somatic cell hybrids were analyzed. Of these, 4 were positive for mouse Mas-1 and Glo-1 (a Chromosoem 17 marker), while 2 were positive for Mas-1 but negative for Glo-1. Other markers showed 24-59% discordancy withMas-1. The 2 discordancies between Mas-1 and Glo-1 were likely due to the greater sensitivity of the Southern blot assay for Mas-1 contrasted to the isozyme assay for Glo-1. An additional 8 independent somatic cell hybrids, 4 strongly positive for Glo-1 and 4 negative for Glo-1 were analyzed. Perfect concordance was observed in these 8 hybrids between Mas-1 and Glo-1, confirming the assignment of Mas-1 to Chromosome 17. (no raw data presented).
