  Albino Tyr^c-ch deletions were analyzed on Northern blots for the presence of Cyp2e1 mRNA using rat CYP2E1 cDNA as a probe (Song, B.J. et al., J Biol Chem 264:3568-3572, 1986). Hybridizing bands were observed in the Tyr^c-14CoS heterozygous deletion mutants and in non deleted ch/ch wild type mice but were absent in the Tyr^c-14CoS deletion. These results demonstrate that the locus for Cyp2e1 maps to the region of Chromosome 7 deleted in Tyr^c-14CoS mutant mice.
