Notes
  • Experiment
The progeny from crosses involving Cat and Lop mice were used to demonstrate that Cat and Lop are allelic on mouse Chromosome 10. All 332 progeny from the outcross (CatFr/CatFr x Lop/Lop)F1 x +/+ and all 190 F2 progeny from the cross (CatFr/CatFrx Lop/Lop)F1 x (CatFr/CatFr x Lop/Lop)F1 exhibited the lens abnormality. If unlinked, 1/4 of the outcross progeny (83) and 1/16 of the F2 progeny (12) would be expected to be +/+ (normal lens). Lop is therefore an allele at Cat.
