  • Reference
    The lambda segment probes used here are a 500bp V2 probe, a C2 750bp probe, a 500bp V1 SacI probe, a 900bp BamHI/KpnI C1 probe and a 2.1kb KpnI/XbaI 3' C1 probe.
  • Experiment
Field inversion electrophoresis was used to determine a physical map for components of the Igl complex. The immunglobulin lambda light chain gene cluster 1 (Igl-1) includes the V-J-C gene segments arranged as V1-J3C3J1C1. The maximum distance between V1 and J3 is estimated as less the 80kb. Gene cluster 2 (Igl-2) includes segments arranged as V2-J2C2J4C4 with the maximum distance between V2 and J2 estimated as between 60-100kb. Cluster 1 and cluster 2 of the Igl locus cover approximately 300kb and are included on contiguous SnaBI restriction fragments. The arrangement of the clusters is 5' -V2-J2C2J4C4/V1-J3C3J1C1- 3'. Other lambda-like loci, Vpreb1, Vpreb2, Igl-5, are probably outside the classical Igl locus complex.
