  A linkage testing stock homozygous for wa1 (wavy fur) was mated to a strain in which the Tgfa gene was disrupted at exon 4. All of the offspring derived from mutated Tgfa homozygotes mated to wa1 homozygotes developed wavy fur. Half of the pups (8/17) derived from mutated Tgfa heterozygotes mated to wa1 homozygotes developed wavy fur. All those wavy fur pups carried the disrupted Tgfa allele. These findings suggest that the Chromosome 6 gene Tgfa and wa1 may be allelic.
