  During the derivation of congenic strain 30NX (H3^a Ir2^b) the loci for H3 and Ir2 recombined. The progenitors for 30NX are CE (H3^b Ir2^b) and C57BL/10Sn (H3^a Ir2^a). Strain B10.LP-H3^b (Ir2^b H13^a) which was derived by backcrossing B10.LP (Ir2^b H13^b) to C57BL/10Sn (Ir2^a H13^a) showed a recombination between Ir2 and H-3. 30NX places Ir2 distal to H3 and B10.LP-H3^b places Ir2 proximal to H13. Ir2 probably maps close to H3.
