  Mice of the T^hp/+ genotype on a C57BL/6J background were observed to express external mixed sex traits. The sex ratio of mice born was also skewed. These expressed traits were indicated as being caused by a dominant autosomal gene, Tas, on Chromosome 17. The authors suggest three possible relationships of T^hp with the expressed trait: One, that T^hp may exert a pleiotropic effect; two, T^hp may be a deletion resulting in the hemizygous expression of gene(s) transferred from C57BL/6J during the production of the T^hp stocks and three, Tas may be a de novo mutation closely linked to T^hp.
