  Using probes that detect common restriction fragments and sequencing data, Nkx5-1 and Nkx5-2 loci were determined to be approximately 11kb apart and have the same transcriptional orientation, with Nkx5-1 located upstream of Nkx5-2. Chromosomal mapping based on polymorphisms between M. musculus and M. spretus localized both genes on mouse Chromosome 7 about 9 cM from Int2 (unpublished results).
