Notes
  • Reference
Authors state Orch1 lies between the gene that governs the antibody response to TNP-Ficoll antigen (Hillstrom-Shapiro, L., et al., J Exp Med 162:1477-1493, 1985) and Tnfa.
  • Experiment
Mice possessing the H2d and H2p haplotypes are highly susceptible to autoimmune orchitis (Orch1). Using congenic mice, susceptibility was seen when H2d alleles are present at or to the right of the H2-S subregion. A significant number of animals with H2d alleles at the H2-D and H2-L subregions were found resistant, suggesting Orch1 maps within the H2-S/H2-D region. A susceptibility and resistance comparison was studied with known H2-S/H2-D congenic mice and a gene order of H2-S - Orch1 - Tnfa - H2-D was provided.
