Notes
  • Experiment
Analysis of six partial t-haplotypes indicated a male hybrid sterility locus (Hst4) mapped to mouse Chromosome 17. Males that carried partial t-haplotypes th18, ts6 and t6 were sterile suggesting that Hst4 maps to distal inversion in(17)4 as defined by markers D17Leh54 and D17Leh89. The locus controlling the sterility phenotypes expressed by M. spretus was shown to map between Hba-ps4 and Pim1 and in M. domesticus between D17Leh54 and Pim1. Hst4 maps between Hba-ps4 and Pim1 on mouse Chromosome 17 with a gene order of D17Leh54 - Hba-ps4 - Hst4 - Pim1 - D17Leh89, and expresses three alleles in M. domesticus, M. spretus and in t-haplotypes.
