• Experiment
  Restriction maps of Igfbp5 and Igfbp2 clones indicated similar placement of EcoRI sites. Southern blots of a Igfbp5 cosmid clone, CosIGFBP5/3.2 demonstrated several hybridizing bands when a Igfbp2 cDNA was used as a probe. Sequence analysis of CosIGFBP5/3.2 confirmed the presence of Igfbp2 exons 2-4 within that clone. Fine physical mapping by PCR with primers from exon 4 of each gene showed that the 3' ends of Igfbp5 and Igfbp2 were 5kb apart and that the genes reside in a tail-to-tail orientation on Chromosome 1.
