  STOCK-bdd/J was backcrossed to CAST/EiJ and intercrossed to NZB/BlNJ to determine linkage of bbd. bbd was Linked without recombination to D2Mit266 suggstive of Col9a3 as the locus underlying the bbd phenotype. However no mutation in the coding sequence of Col9a3 in bdd mice was observed.
