Tpnr2 Paw withdrawal in response to heat
Tpnr7 Paw withdrawal in response to heat
Notes
  • Experiment
Paw withdrawal in response to heat was studied in various inbred strains. Nociceptors (pain receptors) in C57BL/6J mice exhibited 4 times greater responses to radiant heat then did AKR/J mice. This difference facilitated the QTL mapping of the paw withdrawal response. Fifty male and 43 female ( AKR/J X C57BL/6J)F2 mice were informative in mapping Tpnr2 to mouse Chromosome 7. A second cross using 63 males and 45 female (BALB/cJ X C57BL/6J)F2 mice was also used to show a mapping of Tpnr2 to 50 cM with LODs of 6.3 in the AKR/J cross and 4.5 in the BALB/cJ cross.

10.8.2015 Curator Note: When previoulsy identified QTL are cited as confirmed or verified within the same study, using a different cross then that initially used, we have created a new QTL. We consider each distinct cross to be a separate mapping experiment. We have named the QTL identified here using the (BALB/cJ X C57BL/6J)F2 cross as Tpnr7.
