Notes
  • Experiment
Metaphase spreads of C57BL/6J-Rw lymphocytes were used to map Pdgfra by Fluorescent in situ Hybridization (FISH). The hybridization signal for Pdgfra differs on the two homologues of Chromosome 5 but the signal for Kit does not differ (see Stephenson, D.A. 1994, Mamm Genome) indicating that the breakpoint for the Rw inversion is located between Pdgfra and Kit. This was supported by Pulse Field Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE) data which indicate that the breakpoint was actually between D5Buc3 (a marker foundatthe most proximal end of the YAC clone containing Pdgfra) and Kit.
