  Detailed placement of Mecp2 on mouse Chromosome X was done by analysis of 2 overlapping clones which hybridized to a PCR fragment specific for the mouse Mecp2 sequence. After identifying restriction sites, the authors were able to state that Mecp2 lies between L1cam and Opn1lw.
