    The goal of the authors was to determine if reciprocal QTL for acute ethanol withdrawal and consumption could be found in a heterogeneous (HS) stock of mice. HS4 was derived by the crossing of C57BL/6, BALB/cJ, and LP/J mice. Three or four mice from 48HS4 families were used from generation 19 (G19). These HS4 mice were used in a genome wide scan for QTL utilizing SNPs. Seven QTL for withdrawal and consumption were found in chromosomes 1( 2 were found), 3, 6, 11, 16, and 17. In parentheses following the locus is the mapped SNP and the physical location of the QTL in Mbp. Chr 1, Ewc1 (SNP rs13476229 171.14 Mbp), Chr 1, Ewc2 (SNP rs6157620 185.26 Mbp), Chr 3, Ewc3 (SNP rs6376008 86.76 Mbp), Chr 6, Ewc4 (SNP rs3718735 101.08 Mbp), Chr 11, Ewc5 (SNP rs638362 106.79 Mbp), Chr 16, Ewc6 (SNP rs4165467 25.32 Mbp), and Chr 17, Ewc7 (SNP rs6390174 38.59 Mbp),
