KJR/Ms (wild strain Korea) mice exhibit a higher home cage activity then do C57BL/6J mice. A genome wide scan using 135 microsatellite markers and 274 (C57BL/6J X KJR/Ms)F2 mice was used to identify genomic regions contributing to the difference in homecage activity. QTL analysis revealed that three loci had an effect on home cage activity. It should be noted that there were three measures of cage activity, AT or active time, AA or average activity and THA or total spontaneous home cage activity which all appear to covariate in the genome scan. A composite QTL was presented as Hyla (hyperlocomotor activity) to symbolize these activities. Hylaq1 mapped to mouse Chromosome 2 with a peak between D2Mit126 and D2Mit423. Hylaq2 also mapped to mouse Chromosome 2 with a peak between D2Mit22 and D2Mit29. Hylaq3 mapped to mouse Chromosome 10 with a peak between D10Mit73 and D10Mit180.
