  Previous mapping experiments using a (C57BL/6 x C58)F1 x C58 backcross had shown that Mtv8 was located near the Igk variable region on Chromosome 6. In this report one of the backcross progeny (M4-8), which was recombinant between Igk-V28, Igk-J and Mtv8, was analyzed to more precisely map genes in that region of Chromosome 6. Southern blotting blotting using probes for various Igk variable region genes indicated that Igk-V24 and Mtv8 lie on the same side of the crossover and are linked.
