Notes

A further refined mapping for loci responsible for trypanosomiasis resistance in mice was achieved using advanced intercross lines 12 (A12). [Table 1.] An F12 population of AILs, A/J(susceptible) x C57BL/6J (resistant) mice fixed for the susceptible allele at Tir1 were informative in refining and redefining the mapping of Tir loci.

In the F12 population Tir1 was not mapped as its location was well defined in F2 and F6 populations mapping to the same general region of mouse Chr 17, (17.9 cM).

    Using F12 mice Tir2 showed a peak ( LOD 3.81) at D5Mit258.
    Tir3a, Tir3b and Tir3c all mapped to mouse Chromosome 1 at positions 67 cM(LOD 4.49), 76 cM (LOD 3.48), and 86 cM(LOD 3.18) respectively.

6.9.2015 Curator Note: Tir2 was orginally mapped using a BALB/cJOlaHsd[ce] x C57BL/6JOlaHsd (BXB6) cross in J:98907 in 1996. Tir3a, Tir3b and Tir3c were all mapped using the same cross in J: 63779 in 2000. Because the F12 mice used here were generated from different strains, A/J X C57BL/6J, we have equated the QTL identified here with previoulsy mapped QTL using the same cross also done in J:63779 in 2000. These QTL have been associated with Tir5, Tir6a, Tir6b and Tir6c repectively.
