    Authors constructed a contig around the Xist locus to investigate its potential of being a candidate gene for the X-inactivation center. A 460kb contig was constructed, and using two fragments with a SceI restriction site, they were able to orient Xist in relation to the centromere and telomere. The 5' region of Xist is towards the X Chromosome centromere and the 3' region is towards the telomere.
