Notes
  • Experiment
Thirteen microcell hybrids from fusions of mouse Meth A(a) or Meth A(s) cell lines and Chinese hamster cell line E36 were analyzed. Four of these, ma8c, ma12, mAE28 and mAE6, were positive for the Meth A antigen (Meta locus) and contained a translocated(X;12) as their only mouse chromosome. Additional microcell hybrids positive for the Meth A antigen were: mAE6 containing mouse chromosome translocations (1;12) and (X;1), mAE17 containing mouse Chromosomes 6, 10, 12, 14, X and four unidentified marker chromosomes, and mAE32 containing mouse Chromosome 16 and X. Among the microcell hybrids negative for the Meth A antigen, mAE4 and mAE22 each contained a translocated (X;12) and a deleted 12 (C1-ter and F1-ter respectively). These data localized the Meta gene to the F1-ter region of Chromosome 12 with possible implications fo a second locus on Chromosome 16.
