  • Experiment
    Microsatellite sequences were used as co-dominant markers to identify/map NOD mouse intervals containing recessive susceptibility alleles of insulin-related diabetes-associated genes. These intervals were transferred to C57BL/6, a resistant strain background, to produce 6 congenic strains. A gain of phenotype strategy was used in their construction. Strain B6.NODc6 contains peak map locations for IDD susceptibility at Idd6; associated markers, in order, were D6Mit10 - D6Mit13a - D6Mit14 (over 24 cM on mouse Chromosome 6).
