    Surmising that Tcrb-V genes are located 5' to Tcrb-C and rearrange by chromosomal deletion, the Tcrb-V genes located 3' to the rearranged Tcrb-V gene would be deleted in any given T cell. Given this premise, the authors analyzed Tcrb-V gene rearrangements in cytotoxic T-lymphocyte clone F3, known to have Tcrb-V8.2 and Tcrb-V11 rearrangements. Deletion mapping was done using genomic DNA derived from C57BL/6 liver and from clone F3 digested with either PvuII (for Tcrb-V11 probe) or EcorI (for Tcrb-V4, -V10, - V5, -V8, - V6, -V3, and -V14 probes). The absence of Tcrb-V11 where Tcrb-V5 - V8 had been deleted/rearranged demonstrated that the Tcrb-V5, -V8 cluster was located 5' to the Tcrb-V11, - V12 cluster. None of the Tcrb-V4, V16, V10, V1 genes were deleted. The overall reported gene order on mouse Chromosome 6 was thus reported as: Tcrb-V4 - Tcrb-V16 - Tcrb-V10 - Tcrb-V1 - Tcrb-V5.2 - Tcrb-V8.3 - Tcrb-V5.1 - Tcrb-V8.2 - Tcrb-V5.3 - Tcrb-V8.1 - Tcrb-V12 - Tcrb-V11 - Tcrb-V6 - Tcrb-V3.1 - Tcrb-V3.2 - Tcrb-D - Tcrb-J - Tcrb-C - Tcrb-V14.
