Authors examined the transmission of alternate alleles for selected loci in the JAX (BSS) [(C57BL/6Ei x SPRET/Ei)F1 x SPRET/Ei] and JAX (BSB) [(C57BL/6J x M. spretus)F1 x C57BL/6J] backcrosses. Both crosses showed significant deviation from Mendelian inheritance, which was centered near Hmgn2-rs3. Based upon this finding, authors calculated the test statistic GF for a single distortion-cotrolling locus model with DCSX (distortion-controlling locus on the X Chromosome) at Hmgn2-rs3. Authors then incrementally moved the proposed DCSX centromerically or telemerically from Hmgn2-rs3 and recalculated GF at each point. GF estimates were compared for various proposed DCSX locations and the location that minimized GF was concluded to be the most likely location.A DCSX located 2.1 cM distal to Hmgn2-rs3 with a predicted deviation from Mendelian inheritance of 75% gave the best fit to the empirical data (GF = 6.27, 9 d.f., P ~0.71). This DCSX was designated Dcsx2.
