  Authors examined the transmission of alternate alleles for selected loci in the EUCIB (BSS) [(C57BL/6J x SPR)F1 x SPR] backcross. This showed significant deviation from Mendelian inheritance, which was centered near DXMit16. Based upon this finding, authors calculated the test statistic GF for a single distortion-cotrolling locus model with DCSX (distortion-controlling locus on the X Chromosome) at DXmit16. Authors then incrementally moved the proposed DCSX centromerically or telemerically from DXMit16 and recalculated GF at each point. GF estimates were compared for various proposed DCSX locations and the location that minimized GF was concluded to be the most likely location. A DCSX located 1.3 cM distal to DXMit16 with a predicted deviation from Mendelian inheritance of 88%. However, the predicted deviation from Mendelian inheritance did not give a good fit to the empirical data (GF = 36.1, 11 d.f., P<0.00002). Authors therefore tested an alternative model involving two linked loci. They again variedthe locations of the proposed DCSXs to find those that minimixed GF. The best fit was observed with a DCSX located ~2.5 cM distal to DXMit91 with a predicated deviation from Mendelian inheritance of 83% and another DCSX located ~5.3 cM distal to Xist withapredicted deviation from Mendelian inheritance of 84% (GF = 0.934, 11 d.f., P ~1). These DCSX were designated Dcsx3 and Dcsx4, respectively.
