Authors examined the transmission of alternate alleles for selected loci in the JAX (BSS) [(C57BL/6Ei x SPRET/Ei)F1 x SPRET/Ei] backcross. They then further examined the haplotype data for progeny with recombinant chromosomes. To do so, authors divided mouse Chromosome X into five intervals and for each interval, compared the number of animals carrying the two reciprocal haplotypes that showed a recombination breakpoint in this interval. Only haplotypes with a single recombination breakpoint were analyzed. For the JAX (BSS) cross, only the DXBir3-DXMit7 interval showed equal frequency of reciprocal haplotyes. The DXbir3-DXMit7 interval corresponds to the peak deviation from Mendelian inheritance in the segregation analysis and to the predicted peak basedupon modeling. This result provides additional evidence that deviation in the JAX (BSS) can be explained by a single locus model and places Dcsx1 within the DXBir3-DXMit7 interval on mouse Chromosome X.
