Authors report that the marker D10Mit69 is deleted in Socs2hg mice. To further investigate this, authors preformed a cross between congenic strains C57BL/6J-Socs2hg/Socs2hg x C57BL/6J and constructed a high-resolution map of microsatellite markers based upon the genotypes of the mice typed from this cross. From this analysis the following order of loci was determined: D10Mit68 - 0.5 cM - D10Mit41 - D10Mit177 - 0.1 cM - D10Mit69 - D10Mit119. Further analysis showed that hg and D10Mit69 cosegregate in the cross, suggesting that the deletion around D10Mit69 is responsible for the high growth (hg) effect. The authors indicate that D10Mit69 and D10Mit199 are separated by a genetic distance less than 0.23 cM, suggesting that the deleted segment is relatively small.
