Notes

Analysis of reciprocal congenic strains involving a segment of mouse Chromosome 17 indicated that non - H2 genes were involved in the onset of autoimmune type 1 diabetes in NOD mice. In female mice derived from (B10.H2g7 congenic x NOD)F1 x NOD backcross a significant chi square association of mouse Chromosome 3 loci D3Nds1 and Tshb with diabetes was observed. The marker symbol Idd3 is provided for the segment on mouse Chromosome 3 associated with autoimmune type 1 diabetes in NOD mice. in the F1 congenic partner in the backcross carries NOD alleles for Idd1 therefore eliminating that marker as a variable for diabetes in the offspring.
