Dr Peter D'Eustachio indicates in a Personal Communication that:

    1) The mapped markers to which Xmmv25 is most likley to be linked reside not
on Chr 12 but on Chrs. 19 and 16.

    2) If Xmmv25 does map to Chr 12, its most likely position is near Spi1, not
    distal to Igh.

    3) However, the concordances supporting both conclusions 1 and 2 are highly
likely to have arisen by chance alone, so a conservative interpretation of
Blatt's data, in light of everything we've learned since would be to keep
Xmmv25 as a marker, but to give it UNmapped status.

In all cases the actual typing data generated by the original investigators
was used to make the comparisons - I'm not questioning these data, but only
suggesting that the interpretation put on the data by Blatt J7198 (and by me in
1984 - J7556), and picked up by MGD, now looks implausible.
