C57BL/6J (B) mice are sensitive with regards to survival to hyperoxic acute lung injury, whereas 129X1/SvJ (S) mice are resistant. A more robust explanation of the phenotype is expanded by the authors. The goal of this QTL experiment was to identify imprinted regions in the mouse genome that effect the expression of survival time. The authors used 840 F2 mice in the QTL experiment , including 213 for (BxS) x (BxS), 221 for (BxS) x (SxB), 197 for (SxB)X(BxS), and 209 for (SxB)X (SxB). A total of 5 QTL were found. Habiir1 mapped to mouse Chromosome 1 between D1Mit236 and D1Mit478, Habiir2 mapped to mouse Chromosome 4 between D4Mit196 and D4Mit17, Habiir3 also mapped to mouse Chromosome 4 between D4Mit116 and D4Mit145, Habiir4 mapped to mouse Chromosome 9 between D9Mit289 and D9Mit355 and Habiir5 mapped to mouse Chromosome 15 between D15Mit175 and D15Mit5.
