  Genetic mapping using a CAST/Ei x C57BL/6J intercross and a Mus spretus x C57BL/6J backcross provided the following order of loci on mouse Chromosome 11: D11Mit22 - Pad1 - D11Mit139 - D11Mit153 - Prop1 - D11Mit87 - D11Mit24 - Il4 - Il5 - D11Mit140 - Il3 - Csfgm. These data were used to identify the genomic region coding for the df phenotype, and to positionally clone Prop1.
