  During the construction of the congenic strain BALB.D2-Mls^a, authors tested Chromosome 1 isozymes and the presence and absence of the ald gene to try to establish the limits of congenicity on mouse Chromosome 1. Pep3 and Idh1 on the congenic strain were found to be of BALB/c origin, and Mtv7 and ald of DBa/2 origin, so authors concluded that the DBA/2 contribution ot BALB.D2-Mls^a is tleomeric to Pep3 which maps approximately 15-18 cM centromeric to the Mtv7 gene. These data established the following order of loci on mouse Chromosome 1: Idh1 - Pep3 - ald - Mtv7. Akp1 is presented as being distal to Mtv7.
