Authors physically mapped members of the casein gene family to mouse Chromosome 5 using restriction analysis of two overlapping BAC clones. Csn1s1 and Csn2 were mapped in close proximity to each other with an intergenic region of ~8kb, and Csn1s2b was located~20kb away from Csn1s2a. The distance between Csn2 and Csn1s2a was determined to be ~55kb and was ~40kb between Csn1s2b and Csn3. This data shows that the murine casein gene family is contained within a 250kb region on mouse Chromosome 5 in the following gene order: Csn1s1 - Csn2 - Csn1s2a - Csn1s2b - Csn3.
