    Using the progeny from the hyperresponsive A/J mice crossed with the hyporepsonsive C3H/HeJ mice, segregation analyses indicated a major QTL locus, acting additively with a polygenic effect, on Chromosome 6.

    Using linkage analysis 196 mice from a (C3H/HeJx A/J)F1 x A/J backcross revealed a QTL, Bhr5, with significant linkage for ACh-induced AHR within the interval spanning markers D6Mit62a and D6Mit13, LOD=3.11.

    A/J alleles were associated with significantly greater airway responsiveness than were C3H/HeJ alleles. Candidate genes mapping to this region include the Il5 receptor.
