  • Experiment
Linkage analysis was performed on 137 female (129S6/SvEvTac-Apoetm4Mae x D2.129P2(B6)-Apoetm1Unc/J)F2 intercross mice using 170 SNP markers to identify QTL associated with atherosclerotic susceptibility (atherosclerotic lesion size at aortic root). Parental strain D2.129P2(B6)-Apoe exhibits higher incidence of atherosclerosis when compared to 129S6/SvEvTac-Apoe.

QTL Ath46 maps to 106 - 150 Mb (61 - 86 cM) on Chromosome 2 with a peak LOD score of 3.9 at 139 Mb (79 cM) in linkage with atheroscleroticlesion size. D2.129P2(B6)-Apoe alleles confer increased susceptibility to atherosclerotic lesion size.
