Linkage analysis was performed on 209 (AKR.129P2(B6)-Apoetm1Bres x D2.129P2(B6)-Apoetm1Bres)F2 intercross mice (95 female, 114 male) using 1967 markers to identify QTL associated with percent eosinophils as measured by complete bood count. The crosswas generated with the intent to identify QTL related to atherosclerosis. Parental strains AKR/J and DBA/2J are atherosclerosis resistant and sensitive, respectively.

QTL Eosn2 maps to Chromosome 13 with a peak LOD score of 4.49 at marker rs6307428 (17 Mb) in linkage with eosinophil percentage via CBC. AKR/J alleles confer increased susceptibility to percent eosinophils at the Eosn2 locus. Genetic mapping was performed relative to NCBI mouse genome build 34 and sex was used as an interactive covariate.
