  Linkage analysis was performed on a mapping population of 63 F2 homozygous Mfrp^rd6 mice from a (B6.C3Ga-Mfrp^rd6/J x CAST/EiJ) F1 intercross to identify genomic loci affecting photoreceptor cell loss in homozygous Mfrp^rd6 mice. Mice were genotyped at 100 informative SNP markers (GRCm38).
  
  QTL Rd6m1 (retinal degeneration 6 modifier 1) maps to Chromosome 1 between 168.9 - 1124.0 Mb (54.7 - 76.3 cM) with a peak LOD score of 3.31 at 70.1 cM (D1Mit33). The CAST/EiJ allele protects against the loss of photoreceptors in homozygous Mfrp^rd6 mice.
