Mice homozygous for a knock-out allele exhibit increased hepatocyte ploidy and uncontrolled hepatocellular proliferation; most adult mice develop malignant hepatocellular carcinomas. Homozygosity for p.C52A + p.C55A or p.S1043A mutations alleviates diet-induced hepatic steatosis.
