Male mice homozygous for a targeted mutation exhibit emotion/affect abnormalities including decreased anxiety and depression responses. Mice homozygous for a null allele exhibit colitis by 1 year of age, increased sensitivity to chemically-induced colitis associated with high incidence of cancer, abnormal gut flora balance and males show decreased development of induced abdominal aortic aneurysm.
