Homozygous mutants show variable bone loss, decreased osteoblast proliferation, impaired glucose tolerance, increased plasma cholesterol on high-fat diet and persistent embryonic eye vascularization, depending on allelic combination and strain background. Homozygous knockout or ineducible KO in endothelial cells affects retinal angiogenesis.
