Homozygotes for a null allele exhibit slow postnatal weight gain, develop features of hemophagocytic syndrome, and accumulate giant lysosomes in renal tubule cells. Homozygotes for another null allele display impaired TLR9 signaling in dendritic cells, progressive kidney pathology, and proteinuria.
